大西風五Hugo Onishi
大西風五。日米ハーフで大阪のフリーランスです。日本語と英語の両方で育ったので、サイトの文章は翻訳ではなく最初から二か国語で書きます。
屋号をBridgeにしたのは、この仕事が橋をかける仕事だと思っているからです。お店とお客さんのあいだ。日本語と英語のあいだ。大阪と、世界のあいだ。
設計もデザインも文章もコードも翻訳も、ぜんぶ一人でやります。バリ島の宿The HUTのサイトを作ったときは、ご家族に実際に会いに行きました。画面の向こうに誰がいるのかを知ってから作ると、サイトは変わります。
一人でやっている理由は単純です。話した相手がそのまま作るのが、いちばん速くて、いちばん伝わるからです。
Hugo Onishi, half Japanese and half American. A freelance designer in Osaka. I grew up in both Japanese and English, so the copy on every site is written in two languages from the start — never run through a translator.
The name Bridge is literal. This work is bridge-building — between a shop and its customers, between Japanese and English, between Osaka and everywhere else.
Design, copy, code and translation, all done by one person. When I built the site for The HUT in Bali, I went and met the family first. Knowing who is on the other side of the screen changes what you build.
Why work alone? Because the person you talk to is the person who builds. Nothing gets lost on the way.
